PROJECTS UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Rolling Hills Wastewater Treatment Expansion
The existing Rolling Hills Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is a 0.22 MGD Package Plant which provides wastewater treatment services to the Rolling Hills and adjacent Out-of-District Sheldon Ridge Subdivisions. The Sheldon Ridge Subdivision is continuing to expand which has resulted in the need to expand the size of this WWTP to 0.35 MGD. The expansion is being designed to accommodate additional growth in the future and will include a new 0.35 MGD steel package plant, influent lift station, blower and electrical control building, chlorine gas disinfection system, natural gas emergency generator and new influent and effluent sanitary sewer lines. The District has awarded the construction of the project to Sustanite Support Services, LLC and the project is expected to start construction in May 2025 with completion in May 2027.
PROJECTS UNDER DESIGN
Utility Improvements to Harris County ESD #60 Fire Station #2
The District currently provides water and sewer service to the Harris County Emergency Services District No. 60 Fire Station No. 2 Facility on Beaumont Highway east of Sheldon Road. The District is at 90% design to create a new 12” water line loop along Beaumont Highway, Vrana Road, and through a new easement on the rear property line of the Sheldon ISD Ag Barn, HC ESD #60 Fire Station, and Valero Gas Station properties to connect to the existing water line on Sheldon Road. This new loop will increase fire protection with additional fire hydrants and provide for overall better water quality and system pressure to service the fire fighting training facility. Construction is anticipated to start in Fall 2025.
Sheldon Woods Section 4 Water Line Improvements
The District completed water line replacement projects in Sheldon Woods Sections 1-3 in 2020 and 2022 under a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Harris County Community Services Department (HCD). Section 4 (Sunshine, Blairwood, Gardentree, Penrose) is the last remaining section of the Subdivision and the District is currently at 80% design to replace all of the water lines and improve the water quality and fire protection services in this area. The District has submitted a CDBG Project Application to HCD and is awaiting confirmation that this project has been selected for funding. Construction is anticipated to start in Fall 2025.
Rolling Hills Water Plant Booster Station Replacement
The District completed the replacement of the on-site hydro-pneumatic tank and the ground storage tank in 2023 and 2024. The last phase of improvements involves the replacement of the booster pump station which will include a new CMU building and three (3) 750 gpm booster pumps to provide improved water system pressure and to provide additional capacity for future growth in the District. The District is currently at 30% design with construction anticipated to start in Spring 2026.
