PROJECTS UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Sheldon Woods Water Plant Improvements
The District is making significant improvements at its Sheldon Woods Water Plant, including the installation of a new 1,000 gpm water well, a 5,000 gallon hydro-pneumatic pressure tank, and replacement of the water booster pumps and piping. These additions and improvements are the result of the current infrastructure’s age and the recent growth within the District service area. These improvements will allow for increased water system reliability and the ability to meet increased water demands from the District’s customers.
12-Inch Water Line from Sheldon Woods to Rolling Hills Water Plants
The District is improving water system reliability and redundancy by installing a new 12-Inch PVC water line between it’s two water plants. This water line will serve as the primary transmission main between the Sheldon Woods and Rolling Hills Subdivisions and will greatly minimize service disruptions and outages as each water plant will now service both subdivisions. The project’s alignment spans Hall Shepperd Drive, Sheldon Road, and the District’s vacant property in-between the Sheldon Ridge and Rolling Hills Subdivisions. The project also includes the installation of new gate valves, fire hydrants, and water services within the project alignment. For commercial customers, the District will also install new backflow prevention devices after the water meters in order to remain in compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
PY2019 CDBG Sheldon Woods Sections 1 and 2 Water Line Improvements
The District in 2019 received a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Harris County Community Services Department (HCCSD) for water line improvements within Sections 1 and 2 of the Sheldon Woods Subdivision (Lamkin Road, Penrose Drive, Faring Street, Woodacre Street, and Argyle Street). The improvements involve a new 8” water line throughout the project area along with new gate valves, fire hydrants, and services. The construction portion of this project is being funded by the HCCSD to help disadvantaged communities within the County by providing greater fire protection and water system reliability.
PROJECTS UNDER DESIGN
Sheldon Road and Highway 90 Water Line Improvements
This project is ‘Phase 2’ of the 12-inch Water Line Project and will continue the new 12-Inch Water Line along Sheldon Road south to the New Highway 90 feeder road and then along this feeder road where it will then turn north and tie into the Sheldon Woods Subdivision. This will create a looped water line system which will greatly improve the District’s reliability and minimize water service disruptions to the commercial customers on the south end of the District. The project is currently under design and communications are being made with several commercial properties regarding District utility easements in order to perform this project. Construction is expected to begin by the second quarter of 2021.
Sheldon Woods Water Plant Generator
Due to the latest additions at the Sheldon Woods Water Plant, a new permanent stand-by generator is being designed in order to accommodate the larger facilities and to ensure that the water plant will remain operational during any unexpected loss of power. Construction is expected to begin by the second quarter of 2021.
Utility Improvements to Harris County ESD #60 Fire Station #2
The District currently provides water and sewer service to the new Harris County Emergency Services District No. 60 Fire Station No. 2 Facility on Beaumont Highway east of Sheldon Road. The District is currently evaluating alternatives to improve utility service to this fire station.
PY2021 CDBG Sheldon Woods Section 3 Water Line Improvements
The District in 2021 has received another Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Harris County Community Services Department (HCCSD) for water line improvements within Section 3 of the Sheldon Woods Subdivision (Gardentree Drive, Woodburn Drive, Folsom Drive). Project Design is expected to begin in January 2021 with Construction commencing by the end of the year.
Rolling Hills Water Plant Improvements
The District has significant improvements planned in 2021 for the Rolling Hills Water Plant, including replacement of the 15,000 gallon hydro-pneumatic pressure tank and the 220,000 gallon ground storage tank. Design is expected to begin in January 2021 with Construction commencing by the second quarter of 2021.
