Boil Water Notice for Community Public Water Systems – January 16, 2024

Due to The Freeze, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Sheldon Road MUD TX1010235 public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Precision Utility LLC at (281) 456-1852.

Stay Safe and Prepared: Precision Utility’s Guide for the Upcoming Arctic Front in Texas

Due to the artic front moving across the Continental US and through the State of Texas early next week, we encourage all Precision Utility customers to make advance preparations which include the following: wrap exposed piping, cover plants, or bring them inside, and take care of your pets.

We also encourage to conservatively, due to water supply, drip a faucet during freezing temperatures, to prevent leaks. The dripping of faucets will minimally affect your water bill and be a lot less than making repairs.

We are expecting cold temperatures for a few days and our Texas winters are technically December, January, and February. At this time, we are not expecting sleet, snow, or high winds; should those factors arise our call center will remain closed, but our on-call personnel will be on standby.

If roads are impassable, we will reconvene when it is safe for travel.

As always, when we receive service requests, we will be in-route to restore utility services as soon as possible, and when it is safe for crews.

Sincerely,
Management,
Precision Utility LLC

Update on Community Feedback Survey

Sheldon Road MUD has received numerous responses from the community on the Community Feedback Survey. The overall results can be summarized as follows:

  • Street Lights – Both Sheldon Woods and Rolling Hills Subdivisions are in favor of having street lights installed within the Subdivisions (89% For, 11% Against). The District has approached Harris County Precinct 1 and an agreement is currently being executed whereby the County will fund 100% of the required street light installation costs in exchange for the District paying the monthly electrical usage utility bills. This will include new street lights on metal poles within each subdivision as well as additional overhead lights attached to the existing wood power poles on Hall Shepperd Road and Lamkin Road surrounding Sheldon ISD Elementary School.

  • Sidewalks – Sheldon Woods is in favor of sidewalks (84% For, 16% Against) while Rolling Hills is against sidewalks (17% For, 73% Against). The District has been in discussions with Harris County Precinct One about potential pedestrian improvements in the Sheldon Woods area, particularly around Sheldon Woods Elementary School.

  • Speed Bumps – Both Sheldon Woods and Rolling Hills Subdivisions are in favor of having speed bumps installed within the Subdivisions (84% For, 16% Against). The District discussed this request with Harris County Precinct One but their response was that they will not allow speed bumps to be installed on any County maintained roadway.

In addition to these items, Harris County Precinct One informed the District that they are doing an overall pavement condition evaluation along Sheldon Road from New Highway 90 to Garrett Road and within the Rolling Hills Subdivision. The County is also doing a regional San Jacinto River Basin Drainage Study which includes the Sheldon area. The District will continue to keep the community updated on the status of the street light installations.
